Safdar Imam is a Telco-finance veteran with almost 30 years of experience in the industry. Currently serving as Senior Costing Specialist in the Omantel Group (www.omantel.om ), he is responsible for Fixed and Mobile cost models and Regulatory/Management accounting and reporting. Omantel is a multinational telecoms operator who is an incumbent in the Sultanate of Oman and new entrant operator in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. As a key member of the Strategic Finance team of Omantel, he deals with the network models, regulatory and management reports, FDC and LRIC models for interconnection and retail products of two operational licenses of the Group, i.e., Fixed PSTN business and Mobile. His expertise in modelling regulatory cost, tariff & interconnect terms and accounting separation has been involved in evaluating technology choices, regulatory consultations, business initiatives and pricing. Recently, he has been involved in TRA Oman’s consultative processes on Accounting Separation, Access Deficit, Interconnect Rates, Broadband Wireless Access, WiFi hotspots and USO on behalf of Omantel.
