LTE World Summit 2009 Highlights
The LTE World Summit 2009 was a huge success, attracting top operators from across the World. Keynote presentations were made from T-Mobile, France Telecom, the GSMA and Telecom Italia on the morning of day 1, all speaking about their different strategies on how they would eventually deploy LTE.
Other hot topics, across the three days included: voice over LTE, with the VoLGA Forum making a lot of noise at the conference, results from simulations conducted by both operators and vendors on Self Optimising Networks (SON), an update from the LSTI on IOT testing, future handsets, chipsets, application development and SDR, addressing the IPR challenges that the industry still faces, LTE performance and standardisation and some very interesting presentations with different operators setting out their plans for LTE.
The exhibition, with 24 stands had a very lively atmosphere and a lot of discussion on the challenges ahead. Delegates were talking about real issues concerning LTE. There was also an Analyst Breakfast briefing session on the morning of the second and third days, where some of the discussions turned into heated debates!
